Just Hanging Around

Hello everyone!  Yes, I still do think about my Xanga every once in a while, but I must admit that I am far from being a true blogger!

I thought that I would give you all some new pictures to look at.  Looking back at the past two months, it has been quite busy around here!  In August, S and I went with my mom and dad to visit my brother and his family in Washington.  S LOVED meeting her cousins, and they did quite well with her too!

When we got back from WA, family time continued with a trip to the lakes with my parents, older sister, and younger sister and her family.

A few weekends later the women in my family (We missed you, Lisa!) had a chance to break away on a Saturday and go shopping and out to eat (no kids!).  Here's a picture from that day away......I also have another one to add, but I'm not so sure if my younger sister would approve of it!

S continues to make us laugh.  Her personality is really coming alive; she is SO silly already.  I don't think that Chris realizes what's coming to him, since he grew up in a family of all boys.  He might be in for a real surprise!

It's a lot of fun to see S forming sentences...even though her favorite sentence is, "I want ____!  I want ____!  We tend to hear that quite often!  She also loves to read.  Her favorite book right now is, "Are You My Mother?"  I honestly think that I read that at least 5-10 times a day, and Chris reads it about 3-4 times a day.  We read it so much that S can finish the last word of many of the sentences in the book.  It's pretty cute though.  Here's a picture of her about 1 month ago before she came across, "Are You My Mother" (She's actually reading another book!)

I do have quite an exciting announcement to make to everyone:  S can now wear a clip in her hair (even though it looks a little silly)! :)

We are not looking forward to the coming winter months...yes, I said winter.  Even though it's technically fall over here, tonight they are already predicting some snow.  It's quite depressing to think about.  I'm not sure how S will handle staying inside all the time; she lives to be outside.

Things around here are going well for the most part.  Work has been a little slow for Chris due to all the rain and cold weather we've had.  Work has been quite busy for me again this year as many schools are asking for our program to come to them - which is GREAT!  I believe that I'm teaching in about 25 schools, compared with the 2 schools that I started out with about 2 years ago!  We also stay busy with Youth Group, Deacon meetings (Chris), volleyball league (Steph), and remodeling our upstairs.

But other than that, we are just hanging around.

Time to Catch up!

  Hello everyone,

So my sister mentioned that I needed to update my Xanga.  I've been quite lazy with Xanga because I figure that everyone can look at my pictures on facebook instead.  But, alas, I'm also lazy with facebook, so here are some more recent pictures.

About 3-4 weeks ago, our town was hit by a large hail storm.  When the storm hit, we were at the Pizza Ranch with some friends...watching our cars get demolished by the baseball-sized hail  (there were even some reports of grapefruit size!).  My older sister, Stacey, did try to warn us, but if you know Chris and I...we never have our phone with us. :)  Once the storm was over, everyone went out to inspect their cars.  I think that there were only 2 cars that left that parking lot without broken glass.  Everyone else had either a shattered front windshield or backglass.  We were among the ones with a broken front windshield (shattered on the passenger side) and hail damage over every panel of the car.  When we got home, we had holes in our porch covering as well as some siding damage.  To make a long story short, we had the insurance company come and now we have some fixing to do!  Here is a picture of some of the hail we found in our backyard.  Keep in mind that this hail was found about 45 minutes after the storm, so it had already decreased in size a little.  (Sorry - no pictures of the car right now, and I don't have my camera to take one!)

S continues to keep us smiling.  She loves to talk, and I'm afraid we have quite the chatterbox on our hands.  It's fun to hold "conversations" with her now;  I laugh all the time.  Here is an example of a conversation we had yesterday:

S: "I say 'bye'."

Me: "Oh, you are saying, 'bye'.  Where are you going?"

S: "Grandpa's."

Me: "Oh, what are you going to do at Grandpa's?"

S: "Boat".

Me: "Wow, You are going boating.  Is anyone else going with you?"

S: "Daddy."

As you can tell, she loves to pretend.  She will often talk on her cell phone too, and she'll even pause for breaks between her jabbering (as if she's waiting for the other person to talk).  When I ask her who she's talking to, it's usually Emma. :)

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to attend the circus with our neighbors.  Chris and I both thought that S would probably only last through half of it, but we were completely wrong.  She loved the whole thing - she was even laughing at the clown and "Ohhhhh"-ing at the trapeze artists.

S continues to love her new playmate (a boy I babysit for).  Many times she proves to be a little TOO helpful!

They love to jump together - put them in S's crib, and they'll laugh and laugh!

I'm running out of time, but here are a few more pictures of our summer fun.  Check out my facebook page for pictures of our trip to Michigan.  We had a fantastic week with Chris's family out there!

Video

When our camera was broken,  I took out our old camera and found out that my computer downloads those videos much better.  Therefore, I thought that I would post a new video of S talking.  She'll basically say
anything now, but it doesn't always sound like it should.  It's still cute though. :)

Maybe it's not such a bad week for our Electronics!

Good news.  This morning I tried to give our camera another shot, and it worked!  The other day I was messing around with it, hit it a few times, pulled the lens in and out, but still nothing happened.  Well, I guess it just needed a night to rest because this morning it worked!  First our cell phone works after a time in the oven, now our camera works after a few hits.  It's great!

Therefore, I will now add the pictures to my explanations.  Enjoy!

A Bad Week for our Electronics

Hello!  I told a good friend of mine this week that I would update my blog, but I have some sad news.  I dropped our camera yesterday, and so I have no new pictures to share.  I was just going to upload them because I had a ton of new ones on there, but then I dropped the camera from about knee height, and I guess that was good enough to break it.  Grrrrr....Therefore, I will just have to explain what was on there.

I had great pictures of our Memorial Day trip to the zoo; for instance, there is one picture where our friend's daughter is feeding the ducks, and S...well, she's feeding the rocks. (Now that I've added the picture, I need to make one comment:  even though I might look a little pregnant in the picture, I'm not...I'll blame it on bad posture and the wind blowing my shirt.....sorry everyone! :) )

I had a picture of S's great imagination, or I guess that's what we'll call it.  About one month ago I bought S a stroller for her little doll, and for the first 2 weeks she walked that doll everywhere (still does).  Now, however, she also chooses to walk other things.  For instance, just the other day she was walking her doll, then she stopped, took the doll out, grabbed a fork sitting on our table, and walked that thing around for about 5 minutes.  Since then she has walked her blocks, her sippy cup, her shoes, and made an attempt at the neighbor's cat.

I had a picture of S's latest toilet episode.  Let's just say that her sippy cup, a towel, and her doll all ended up taking a bath together...in the toilet.

I do NOT have a picture of S's other toilet episode, in which she threw in our cell phone (thankfully not my work one again!).  This girl works faster than anything - I couldn't believe she accomplished opening the toilet, grabbing my cell phone, and throwing it in the toilet in all about 1 second.  It's amazing.  Thankfully, I fished it out as fast as I could and tried to dry it out.  We also (take note everyone if you have a crazy 1-year-old like mine) put the cell phone in the oven at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes.  We heard of this trick from a friend of mine, and it worked!  (Make sure you take out the battery first.)

And finally I had some pictures of S with her new playmate.  This summer I am babysitting for a friend of mine who has a 7-month old little boy.  In all honesty, I was worried about how it was going to go since I thought that S would be completely jealous, but it's gone better than I could have expected.  S loves the new playmate, and even proves to be quite helpful.  She gives him MOST of her toys, but there are some that she guards with her life...like her mini-Magna Doodle and the giraffe (which she didn't care about for months).  He can't touch those.  The biggest thing I have to worry about is S not poking his eyes out since she loves to point to his eyes and say, "Eyes", and she also loves to hug him, which usually knocks him over.  He doesn't mind though, he's an easy kid.

Enjoy your week!

P.S.  Here's an answer to my last blog: yes Chris did make that hat.  Hahah - it's something that he learned in a 7th grade exploratory class, and still remembers how to do it!

P.P.S. I can't forget a picture of her first time eating sweet corn.  She LOVED it (must take after her mother)! :)
